Video Transcript

"Gray background with a yellow, blue, and black Deaf Health Communication and Quality of Life Center logo at the top left corner. A young South Asian girl with black hair is wearing a white lab coat.

""Are you aware of what the kidneys do for us? They filter toxins from the blood, regulate our blood pressure, and activate Vitamin D to maintain healthy bones.

Our Deaf health lab gathered data from 1763 Deaf adults and 134 individuals (8%) were told they have kidney disease by their doctors.

Make sure you recognize the symptoms of kidney disease: fatigue and weakness, difficult or painful urination, increased thirst, and swollen face, hands, ankles, feet. Discuss your risks, symptoms, and family history with your primary care physician. Make sure you exercise regularly, stay hydrated, follow a nutritious diet to keep your kidneys healthy!"
